Where national security & Jewish politics meet.

It’s been a year since the October 7th Hamas attacks on Israel, a horrific day that saw the worst massacre of Jews since the Holocaust and triggered a major Middle East war that’s upended American national security and politics.

So I can’t help but ask: How are we supposed to make sense of it all?

I’m pretty sure you’ve got more questions than answers. Will fighting between Israel and Iran break out without any guardrails? Will the wars in Lebanon and Gaza continue? How do these events impact us here at home as Antisemitism spikes? How would Trump handle these issues versus Kamala Harris? Now, more than ever, you need to hear from someone who has real-world experience working on these issues and the ability to explain them with nuance.

That’s why I’m launching my brand new Substack - The Briefing Book.

My goal with this Substack is to answer these kinds of questions for you. I do this frequently for a diverse set of news outlets spanning the political spectrum, such as CNN, MSNBC, NewsNation, and FOX, and for Jewish community outlets like The Times of Israel, Jewish Insider, and The Forward. They value my insights and trust my authority. Now I’ll be sharing these insights directly with you.

So why call it The Briefing Book? A briefing book is one of the most important tools that decision-makers use to understand crucial issues. Essentially, it’s the best collection of ideas that a team puts together for their boss so they can make informed decisions on these issues. For me, you’re the boss, and it’ll be my responsibility to help you navigate these issues, such as the ones described above, by providing you with key insights on where national security and Jewish politics meet.

That’s what The Briefing Book will do. And after you read it, you’ll be all briefed up!

Lastly, as we get to know each other, you’ll hear me share my experiences of working in national security at the State Department in both Democratic and Republican Administrations and on Capitol Hill, as well as in Jewish politics as an organizational leader in both the establishment and progressive wings of the Jewish community.
